"Digital twin" is a term borrowed from manufacturing and logistics. A live, continuously updated virtual model of a physical system. Applied to a venue, it's a useful way to describe what NUA's connected data layer actually is, beyond just a dashboard.
What makes it a "twin" rather than a dashboard
A dashboard is typically something you check, a snapshot, refreshed periodically. A twin implies the model is continuously current and is actively read from by other parts of the system, not just displayed for a human to glance at.
What's modelled
- Live floor state: which tables are occupied, predicted to turn, or reserved
- Current stock levels, down to the ingredient
- Staffing on shift against the roster and forecast
- Demand signals feeding both the current and next few hours' predictions
Why this framing matters
It reframes NUA's connected pillars as a single coherent model of the venue's current state, rather than four separate modules that happen to share a login, the Friday-night scenario in our "One Operating System" article is, in effect, a walkthrough of the twin updating in real time.
This is a conceptual frame more than a specific named product feature. It's the clearest way to describe what NUA's shared data layer actually does across the platform.
